Strapped up

· 244 words · 2 minute read

The Barton 1972 strap on my E-M1 is by far the best camera strap I have ever used. The braided design makes for a gentle, springy load on your shoulder; and the leather is soft and supple. I have a green leather half-case on the way from Chile (although, having left Chile some weeks ago, it is showing no interest in arriving in Thailand); so I decided that an olive green braided strap is just what I need for the Leica M3. Ordered on Monday, arrived today; perfect.

Very nice. Curious though. Why stand on your head to shoot the M3. Or was the camera upside down?

New camera arrived in the post today, Spike. A Sony a . . . 6000. £379. Since batteries, adapters and lenses are all the same as the A7r I decided to pick up something that can track, focus and have a rapid burst rate.

Nasty bit of plastic so it is, very basic with a grainy EVF but blimey the AF/tracking/noise control is superb, especially with the Sony FE 70-200 f/4 G, the lens for which the camera was bought, for a sort Uzi style “spray and pray” style of sports/action togging.

I have rather lost track of your gear. I thought it was going to be Pentax, and then it wasn’t. An A7R is hinted at?
