Wat Prachakhom

What a wat. Very different from the normal Thai temple; and tucked away in a complex of lakes and shrines such that it would be easy to miss it. When you find it, it frustrates you if you wish to photograph it because it is surrounded by trees and impossible to capture as a whole. Unless…

Anyway, we started inside the building where there were assorted noble monks adorning the walls:

There were also some murals, a couple of which were pretty disgusting. Presumably meant to show the results of not throwing large amounts of merit at the nearest temple; they were bugger all to do with Buddhism and everything to do with the degradation of women:

Escaping that crap, we emerged into the sunlight and pointed cameras at the building:

Some interesting angles; but none of these shots can convey what the place actually looks like. Fortunately, I had my drone with me:

Pretty place; best viewed from the air.

My map plugin has stopped working, but if you want to know the location, plug these into Google: 15°59'31" N 103°29'43" E

Fine shots, great lighting but you are right, the drone really does the business…

Wat Prachakomwanaram วัดประชาคมวนาราม, also known as Wat Pa Kung วัดป่ากุง. The monk who designed it got inspiration from a visit to Borobudur. I went there recently (Wat Pa Kung, not Borobudur): http://christianpfc.blogspot.com/2014/06/wat-pa-kung-in-roi-et-province.html
