Six days

· 379 words · 2 minute read

The last few days has been spent moving stuff that was deemed too delicate for our amateur moving boys. A wise decision, because we only broke a few things in transit. Current condo is looking pretty empty now, much to the consternation of the cat who has lost all her usual dossing places and is left with a few pieces of cardboard and a mattress to choose from.

She who must obeyed has consulted the on-line oracle at length and announced that next Friday will be an auspicious day for us to finally move; so we now have six days to prepare for that. Having set the date, she has since been researching further and making extensive notes, so I expect much of the moving day will be taken over by assorted rituals. I am prepared to accommodate this provided the final ritual involves sitting in the pool and drinking something expensive and fizzy, I believe we will have earned it.

Having vacated the current chez Spike, we will then have the weekend to pile up all the dust in a corner, before transferring the condo and the dust to the new owner the following week. Once all the books have been balanced I will be left with a small surplus which will fortuitously fall to hand just as the Photokina photography show comes around with loads of juicy new camera announcements; how delightful.

Most delightful of all will be returning to some form of normality. Messing around with cameras, maintaining Pattaya Days and drinking industrial volumes of coffee. Sadly, this will not happen immediately. The contractor is still building my magnificent storage room (delayed somewhat this week when the roof didn’t fit as it should, requiring much swearing in Thai and substantial re-work); and once he has done that we have a list of other projects for him to address, including extending the patio so I can spread myself out in my declining years. Can’t wait.

That Panasonic 42.5 is worthy of surplus spending.
