Yesterday marked the completion of the interior work on our new home. Actually, there are still a couple of jobs outstanding which will be completed on Monday, but these are trivial compared to the large number of additional tasks that our contractor has undertaken at no additional cost (the result of new ideas popping into the fertile mind of my wife); so it seemed only fair to deem work complete, pay the contractor what he is owed, and mark the occasion in some fashion.
She who must be obeyed collared a street vendor near our current condo and, by the waving of banknotes, persuaded them to drive across town and cook various dubious items for the enjoyment of our workers. We stocked our new fridge with beer and at the end of the day our contractor and his four main men sat down and enjoyed food and drinks. Seemed to make them very happy; a justified small thank you for a job well done.
Other than the few jobs to complete inside, they are still working on the store room which now has a floor and most of the walls. Once they have finished that, we want them to build an extended patio which will also require the moving of a tree; so plenty of fun and games still to come.
We now move into move mode, and a truck is coming on Tuesday into which will be stuffed most of our belongings. We are still unsure where we are going to put all our crap, so some items will stay behind pending an evaluation of available space following the first move. Also not moved will be our mattress and the cat; because the day on which we first sleep at our new home has to be carefully calculated by she who must be obeyed to ensure maximum good fortune. I have long since learned not to question such nonsense.
The only cloud on the otherwise clear and sunny horizon is the realisation that I have not planned anywhere to keep my camera collection……
