“Worst month since records began!” trumpeted the headlines; although that was probably just a comment on the British weather. But it has indeed been a crap performance for June on Pattaya Days; not that you even care.
Apologies anyway. It has been a month of abode hunting, which finally came to a conclusion this morning at 1000 when I handed over a substantial cheque and in return I received a set of keys to the new Spike Towers. I may now be broke; but I do have somewhere new to live.
That’s not the end of course. She who must be obeyed has identified a number of crucial “enhancements” that will be required before we can actually move in. Cue a stream of semi-competent contractors and a blizzard of misunderstanding. It’s going to be joyful.
This of course means that July may not be any better than June in terms of posts; but I will try and get myself away from fighting with Khun Somchai the paint spreader and knock up something for our mutual amusement.

2014-07-01| Froggy saysBeen wondering: Did you buy the house under your wife’s name or did you set you set up a company to buy it?
Anyway, congrats!
2014-07-01| genuinej saysOf course we care. What neck of the woods are you moving to?
2014-07-01| Ron saysWe care. We want to know about all the trials and tribulations of working with Khun Somchai and those crucial modifications required by swmbo.
2014-07-02| Jason saysGood to see you are alive. I am sure Khun Somchai is an excellent painter and its you that doesn’t understand the intricacies of the Thai painting style. Just think of all the quality paint jobs you see in other palatial manses and picture Spike Towers with similar care and you will start to see the Somchai Vision. That is if you can get him to show up after he’s been drinking and up all night from watching World Cup matches.
2014-07-02| Ray says“………… Knock up something for our mutual amusement” The mind boggles. Back in Blighty a pregnancy was known as having been “knocked up”
Hope Somchai is braced!
2014-07-02| Spike saysCame with a company so we decided to leave it like that; will be easier to sell when the time comes. Much cheaper than going through the land office too.
2014-07-02| Spike saysSlightly different area of the same woods.
2014-07-02| Spike saysEarly indications are that proceedings will be blog-worthy.
2014-07-02| Andrew saysWow you are already talking about selling…I can see this a a recurring theme for Pattaya Days…100 Days…100 Khun Somchai’s…NEXT!
