Panasonic GX1

My first Micro Four Thirds camera was the Panasonic GF1 and I loved, and still love, it dearly. It was so popular that is seemed inevitable the GF series would be the start of a new and very successful line of cameras from Panasonic. Inexplicably, this didn’t happen, and the GF2 was a severely simplified version of the GF1; not what the enthusiasts were waiting for at all.

Instead we had to wait for another two years before the spiritual successor to the GF1, the GX1 was released.

The GX1 is a GF1 with many improvements, which I summarised in my review.

The GX1 was not that well received, was not well marketed in some countries, and prices soon dropped. Consequently, once I moved to an Olympus E-M5 after a year of GX1 ownership, it seemed pointless to sell it for very little money. So it sits alongside my GF1 in my camera cabinet and is used only occasionally (if I want to go retro, I use the GF1).
