There was much hilarity all round when I arrived to photograph the bed race a week early. Just a silly once-off mistake I assured everyone; stop mocking.
With that behind me I set off this morning to take some photos of the FIM Motocross World Championship - Thailand round. A simple 45 minute trip turned into a two hour nightmare when I fell foul of major roadworks before finally finding myself on the road back to Pattaya. Much fiddling around on small roads followed before I finally arrived at the Pintong Industrial Estate and then struggled to find the circuit. Why wasn’t it properly signposted? Probably because, as I discovered, I was exactly one month early….
Never mind, there were some bikes on the track so I could take a few photos, and the E-M1 surprised me again by being extremely competent in tracking my targets, with any mistakes being mine, like this one…

Will be better on the 7th MARCH; but here are a few shots for now:

Finished off the visit by climbing to 230 metres and taking a shot of the track. How? To be discussed later.

I like how Mr. 93 is looking straight at you in his second picture - given the terrain and the angle of his bike, I’m sure it would be much more prudent to be looking where he’s going.
2014-02-08| Larry saysSpike, what lens did you use? Great captures.
2014-02-10| Spike saysMainly 75mm, one with the 100-300mm.

2014-02-27| BlogDaz saysYou got yourself a DJI Phantom, Spike ?. I might head off to the track myself for the motocross, any tips ??.
2014-02-28| Spike saysI don’t think they sell the one that I have. I prefer to deal with the official importer so that when things go wrong (as they have), I have some recourse. Full story in due course.

The track is in the Pinthong 3 industrial estate: http://www.thaiticketmajor.com/venue/details.php?vid=10403&la=en
The problem is the massive roadworks at the nearby 7/331 junction. If you are coming from the north, it should be easy to just take a left onto the 331 and then just drive for 11 kms and then do a U-turn. But coming from the South, you have to turn right and the way to do that is not obvious, and there are massive jams at the junction. I shall attempt a different route to get there.
