Regular readers will recall the very popular post titled: What’s better than an Olympus E-M1 camera?
Indeed it was so popular that I felt obliged to follow it up with: What’s better than two Olympus E-M1s?
And now, I am pleased to announce the latest in the series which, after much deliberation, I will call “What’s better than three Olympus E-M1s?”
And the answer is of course, four E-M1s:
Kevin is back in town and his first port of call was Big Camera to collect an E-M1 with the 12-40mm lens. He wants the lens, his wife wants a new camera (well, even if she doesn’t she is getting one, because Kevin wants the lens) and so another sale for my local camera shop.
It seemed a good opportunity to take a shot of all the E-M1s they have sold which I have been involved with; so there was mine, neighbour Nik’s, and two from family Kevin. We couldn’t find a convenient table to pose them on, so the very nice lady who took my camera to Bangkok for repair was decorated with the best of Olympus. Would have been an interesting situation if she had dropped any of them.
In fact there should have been five. I was in the shop a week or so ago and a rather large and sweaty gentleman was gazing at the E-M1 in the showcase. I whipped mine out (my E-M1 of course) and gave him a demonstration which went well enough, until he told me I should always shoot in manual mode because photos look better that way. I gave him one of my looks and left; but in spite of that he went on to buy the camera, the lens and a whole range of accessories.
I reckon Big Camera owe me a free lens cleaning cloth.

2014-01-07| Spike saysAV Camera now have the E-M1 for sale for 35,000 baht. Compare to the UK price at current exchange rates and explain to your wife what a massive, never to be repeated, bargain it is.
2014-01-07| BlogDaz saysSpike, don’t try telling me you never worked as a salesman, you already talked me into the 4/3rds (via your blog) hence I have the G3, and I must say it’s much more capable than I ever imagined, I should probably look at building my kit a little more before splashing out on the Olympus. Doubtless the price will fall anyway.
