Road trip, enquires Nik the neighbour? Oh yes, says I, without first checking that this will require us to leave the condo at 0600. But we do, and return some ten hours later having plundered the province of Nonthaburi. I must commend myself on my excellent navigational skills, which turned to ratshit when my phone’s battery died and I no longer could rely upon Google maps. With a bit more battery life it might have been a nine hour trip.
The first location to have E-M1s waved at it was Nonthaburi old city hall.

Built in 1910 and originally used as a school, the city hall was located here from 1925 to 1992. The building was abandoned in 1998 and although conservation works are planned, they were not much in evidence. One corner is given over to a museum which remained resolutely shut during our visit, some sections seem to have been taken over, not doubt legally, as small businesses, and much of it lies rotting. It also serves as a car park.

A shame, because it is a beautiful building which deserves to be preserved.
