Loud wedding

Up at 0500 for a day trip to somewhere on the other side of the gulf for a wedding of one of she who must be obeyed’s university buddies. I recall her as being the smallest Boot’s assistant I have ever met and also a really nice person; so happy to attend, although such an early start is not so pleasant.

I drive until we reach the motorway where I enforce a pee break (my wife is notorious for demanding a pee at the most difficult points in a journey). She then takes the wheel so I can navigate, which I do faultlessly; although we nearly come to blows at one point where I insist we go left and she demands we go right. I know I am correct because it is same spot where I made a mistake Kevin took us in the wrong direction when we went to the Ancient City last year.

We arrive at the wedding having missed much of the ceremony, but in time to see the sharing of the rings and the splashing of the water on the hands. There is a professional photographer in attendance with a full-frame Canikon and assorted lenses. He looks at my Olympus and observes “nice camera”. I can’t bring myself to say “so is yours”, so I settle for “yes, and much lighter than yours”. We don’t speak again.

I take a few shots inside the house. It is fairly dark and this was taken at ISO 1600:

The groom was a Swedish golf instructor and there is probably a joke there, but he was a charming chap and it was his wedding so I’ll just settle for a shot of the bride and groom.

After the ceremony, we all moved to the tables outside. We sat next to some big black things which turned out to be speakers and for the next three hours we were blasted by Thai folk music, courtesy of a male singer who doubled up as the M.C. He dressed tastefully for the occasion.

At least he could sing, unlike a couple of girls who made an attempt but were clearly employed for other reasons.

After much food, and partially deaf, we said our goodbyes and headed home. I drove, and she who must be obeyed avoided adding negative input to the navigation process by sleeping most of the journey.

Home, pizza and a large glass of wine, slept very well.

No problems with colour at ISO 1600 and some nice images there Spike. Nice to hear the truth about navigational errors in the past finally come out.

Cracking photos Spike, colours seem “soft” in a wonderful sort of way, is that in camera thing, or some processing with software.

No special processing. Had to use spot focus and some positive exposure compensation due to the very bright backgrounds.

Any chance of SWMBO catching the marriage bug from her uni pal? That’s if she can find a suitable candidate of course.

She has been married to me for seven years. Lucky girl.
