Storage solutions

One of the many joys of Micro Four Thirds cameras is their small size. But achieving this requires the camera manufacturers to provide small batteries which provide a limited number of shots; which means you will probably need to carry at least one spare.

The E-M1 and the E-M5 use the same battery (BLN-1) and I currently have three of them; one in the camera and the other two rattling around in my camera bag looking for opportunities to short against each other. If you also have spare batteries and would like to have an alternative to just chucking them in your camera bag, then there is this:

It’s the Think Tank AA Battery Holder, intended to hold two sets of four AA batteries; but just as happy guarding a couple of BLN-1s.

Widely available from the usual suspects (B&H, Adorama, Amazon etc.). I bought mine from Adorama because they accept Paypal from customers in Thailand. B&H won’t because we are all terrorists, or something. Anyway, while I was at it I also bought this:

For the memory cards in your life:

It’s another Think Tank offering, comes in a variety of sizes and colours.

My previous storage card solution was having each card in its own plastic holder, with all the cards jammed in a small bag. As the cards are used in a selection of cameras by my wife and myself, it could be hard to identify which cards were with me at any time. Now I can spot if any are missing and know who is to blame (my wife of course).

Don’t have a particular affinity for Think Tank; but both of the above live in my Think Tank Retrospective 7 when I am carrying a lot of gear, or my Think Tank Retrospective 5 when I am travelling light.
