Having had my fill of Ginkakuji temple, I headed off down the “Path of Philosophy” towards my next destination. This route is very popular during cherry blossom season, but it’s also very pleasant the rest of the year, with a canal flanked by trees and small businesses, cashing in on the passing trade:

The path brings you to Eikan-do temple, one of the more popular autumn leaves locations thanks to the pretty gardens and lake.

I wasn’t the only one attracted to the place, this was the road leading to the entrance:

Once inside, everyone had a camera of sorts:

There was a particularly heavy scrum on a little bridge:

Being Japan, it was a very polite scrum, and everyone patiently waited their turn to grab a snap of the lake:

After snapping, it was time for a sit, a chat and a snack:

In spite of the crowds, I enjoyed my visit to Eikan-do. Compact and charming; a bit like me really…
