Two things that happened yesterday

  1. She who must be obeyed started complaining about her iPhone 4S which has apparently suddenly started acting strangely, although she found it hard to explain exactly what was wrong. But it was enough for her to decide that she needs a new one.

  2. Apple announced that the iPhone 5S will be released in Thailand on the 25th October.

Only the brave would suggest that there is any link between these two events. I am not brave, and in addition I need to handle this strategically because Apple will be announcing a new iPad on the 22nd and my existing iPad 2 is likely to also encounter some severe operational problems around that date which will necessitate a replacement.

I think the iphone 4s issue is worldwide. My wife too is having issues with hers and is also suggesting that a replacement needs to be sourced soon. I too will have to handle the situation strategically with the impending purchase of a new shiny ( but much needed ) Olympus OM-D EM1. My wife has just seen your post and she says that the two wives do seem to have a lot in common. Perhaps you were correct to suggest that these two meeting up im January may need a rethink. We could on the otherhand go lens shopping and match them hit for hit. Maybe not such a bright idea that as I suspect, there’s a lot more shoes than lenses and as we’ve both been told " you can never have too many shoes or bags".

Yes my wife had an old second hand iPhone 2 which went wrong a couple of years ago so now she has a perfectly good cheap Nokia and low spec Samsung. I still run my 3 year old iPhone 3GS, which I just had a new battery fitted for 1200 Baht in MBK Bangkok, so that will last me another couple of years at least and does sterling service anyway. Though I might entertain a second hand 4s if cheap enough hint hint, and even an old servicebale iPad 2 to compliment my iPad 1 too hmm :-) Then my missus can have my old serviceable and still excellent 3GS and iPad 1 which I know she will love and appreciate both of them fully.
