Olympus E-M1 reserved

· 314 words · 2 minute read

The first batch of body-only E-M1s will arrive in Thailand next week and almost all are reserved. But when I walked into Big Camera today they still had one available; which means I will have a shiny new E-M1 in my hands next week!!

The bad news is that it is not for me. It’s for one of the readers of this august journal who a year ago was a perfectly contented wedding photographer with two big Nikons and enough lenses to trigger a massive excess baggage allowance. But he saw the light and all the Nikon gear has departed, to be replaced by two Olympus E-M5s and a selection of tasty lenses. Naturally he needs an E-M1 as soon as possible but does not want to pay inflated UK prices. Enter the Pattaya Days Micro Four Thirds Gear Acquisition Service™. For a small fee (a beer), the proprietor will obtain the gear of your choice, on the understanding he will sit and drool over it before handing it over in a slightly sticky condition.

I feel strangely excited, even though the camera is not for me.

I think this is a superb service you’re providing Spike and, is a snip for just the cost of a beer and a packet of wipes for drool removing purposes.

I’m sure you’ll look after my baby for me and look forward to seeing a few test images from you. I’m pretty sure it will only be a very short time ( that’s not like Pattaya short time ) before you’ve got one of these with the new 12-40mm f2.8 stuck on the front to paly with too.

It’s OK, I’ve seen the publicity material. After drooling I will just chuck it in the condo swimming pool for an hour or so to clean it off.
