Conditional management approval

An early start (for me) as I act as chauffeur to she who must be obeyed who has some business at Chonburi City Hall, an hour’s drive from home; or two hours plus if she was driving and “navigating” on her own.

On the way I tell her about the rather excellent macro photographer in Singapore and suggest I would like to attend one of his future workshops. She is most enthusiastic about the idea, mainly because she has an imaginary list of expensive items I could buy for her while I am there.

Her dreaming continues as she ponders her work schedule over the coming month or so which is particularly punishing. “You should take yourself off on some photo trips” she suggests; “you need to go and enjoy places before you…” there is a pause, and I can see the sentence she was thinking of ended in “are dead”, but she softens it to “are too old”. Talk of me dying tends to make her a little weepy, and it doesn’t cheer me up that much either.

“Good idea”, I reply, mentally planning where I might go first. “Yes, you could go to many places and bring some jewelry from each place” is her enthusiastic suggestion.

To be honest, I am feeling a little jaundiced with Pattaya and a trip somewhere with many things to photograph would be a refreshing change. I suspect that Myanmar has a good line in plastic necklaces and some excellent photo opportunities; double win.

I might stretch to coloured glass if she behaves.

Bit of a long trek but any exscuse to escape the UK if you find out any dates for the workshops then let me know. I’ll also be around Thailand / Malaysia end of of October for a couple of weeks so if you fancy some company for a photo trip I’d be up for it.

A trip to Myanmar would inspire more jealousy in me than any new photo kit you might get. You’ve seen my photos from last year. I SO want to go back…

Have you considered putting together a course on the care, feeding and management of significant others !

There some excellent photo-trips to be made in Myanmar and Vietnam organised by even more excellent photographers. Especially Myanmar.
