Three legged thing, with extra things

You will no doubt not recall a recent post where I recounted the sorry tale of my broken tripod and my poetic efforts to stir the tripod company into action.

In summary, I needed a rubber letter “T”, a bolt and two washers to make my Three Legged Thing tripod whole again. My magnificent poem had failed to elicit a response, and a follow-up mail had also got me nowhere and I was close to taking Kevin up on his offer to call them up and give them a good talking to. Fortunately for them, they were spared the wrath of Kevin by announcing that bits were in the post and that “no donkeys or tramp steamers were involved in the logistical chain”.

Two days later, with no sign of a donkey, a package arrived at the condo and I was suprised to find that the contents were not a rubber letter “T”, a bolt and two washers. Instead there was a rubber letter T, plus a complete spare head plate, complete with a letter T and two other letters. There were the bolts and washers I needed, plus enough extras to qualify as a Meccano set. And to top it off, two stickers which I will stick somewhere (no, not there, but thanks for the suggestion).

So well done Three Legged Thing. Slightly delayed but eventually excellent customer service. I hear via Kevin, who knows these things, that they are extremely busy so I will cut them some slack. It’s a great tripod, I really should get round to writing a review.

It may have taken these guys a few days and prompts to respond, but there’s certainly no grounds for complaints looking at the results. As far as i’m aware, there’s still only four people involved in 3 legged thing. Their products are in extremely high demand especially Brian and there isn’t one stockist here in the UK that has one availiable.

3 legged thing are now running four kilns producing all of their own carbon fibre tubing and have said they need at least sixteen to even try and keep up with demand. Without doubt they cetainly turn out a very high quality product and hopefully as they grow larger they’ll maintain these same standards.

For anyone who hasn’t seen any of 3 legged thing’s videos on youtube, they’re certainly worth a watch especially the video on Brian and why they chose the colors for their tripods.
