Something of a significant milestone in my camera owning life. For the first time in many, many years I have nothing in my cupboard made by Canon.
Of most significance is the departure of this:

It is, or at least was, my Canon 300mm F2.8, responsible for some amazing sports shots over the past four years or so. I shall miss it, but can no longer justify keeping it for the limited shooting that it does. Also gone is the Canon 1D Mark IV which was a stunningly competent sports shooter which I will not miss at all; efficient but boring.
So the Canon gear has gone to a new home, which means no more high-speed sports shooting until follow-focus on mirrorless cameras becomes more workable. Which also means no more polo photography, something I know many of you will be very upset about…. Never mind, I have an archive of polo shots that I can re-post from time to time.
Given Canon’s dismal performance in the mirrorless market so far, unlikely I will ever own a Canon again. Somehow I feel deeply cleansed.

2013-07-03| Spike saysHad enough of polo horses, expect they would make for a rather expensive steak.
A used 300mm in good condition fetches between $3-4000 on eBay.
