Those who care about these things may like to know that Lightroom 5 is now available. The price in the USA for the upgrade is $79, the price in the Adobe South East Asia store is 2,363 baht, which is pretty much the identical price; a pleasant change after some of Adobe’s previous pricing strategies outside of the States.
Anyway, I have handed them my credit card details and the software is currently downloading. Hopefully my existing catalogues will convert without a problem (assuming they need conversion).
Happy days.

2013-06-10| Kevin Moore saysThanks for the info Spike, just downloaded my copy but will have to wait a few days to give it a try as it’s decorating time again. Can’t complain really as I’ve proven recently it certainly pays to keep my good lady happy. Talking of lenses, I wish Adobe would include some Panasonic and Olympus lens profiles any reason they don’t that you’re aware of?
2013-06-15| Andrew saysI believe the lens profiles for m4/3 lenses are baked in to the metadata and read by camera raw for sure - don’t know that it works on jpegs… http://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/3381427
" Lightroom automatically applies lens corrections embedded in the metadata of m4/3 RAW files. This provides distortion correction (albeit, perhaps less than 100% corrected) for Olympus and Panasonic bodies. In the case of Panasonic lenses on Panasonic bodies, this also provides CA correction.
So, in short, although it’s certainly possible to create lens profiles for m4/3, it’s arguably not necessary. "

Hope that helps….

2013-06-16| Kevin Moore saysThanks for the info Spike. As you know, I’ve been lugging around tons of Nikon kit for too long now and I’m used to applying lens corrections in LR by selecting the lens used and then LR does the corretion. I wasn’t aware that the lens profiles were built into the raw files for M 4/3 lenses and automatically dealt with by LR. Many thanks and will have a look at the links.
