Ocean 1 - Could be a slight delay

It’s more than seven years since the mega-tower that will be Ocean 1 was announced. Construction was then meant to start in August 2006 with completion by December 2009. Unfortunately, construction start-up was slightly delayed, to the extent that it hasn’t quite started yet. Even so, I am sure many investors remain optimistic that their dream condominium will be completed one day.

I have charted the progress, or lack of, on this site via a number of posts (just stick “Ocean 1” in the search box). Sadly, the official Ocean 1 website has been less forthcoming, the latest news item was several years old and announced the arrival of a concrete batching plant for the construction of the condo, (which in the event was used to supply concrete to other developments before being dismantled and taken away).

So it is probably not a surprise that they have failed to announce the latest development, which appears to be some form of court order banning usage or sale of the land. This notice was fixed to the wall next to the entrance of the site; and then a day or so later it had been ripped down:

I waved in front of she who must be obeyed and she said it was the result of a case brought against the developers by Daryl Shane Parker, although I might have remembered that incorrectly; no doubt Pete will be along shortly to provide a complete translation.

Whatever it says, I fear this may introduce yet another delay in the construction progress of the ninety one storey tower of wonderfulness that will be Ocean 1. I remain cautiously non-committal.

You? Cautiously non-committal? We shall mark this day with an excess of wine and feasting and cause the date to be graven in our almanacks for ever more… I could quite see you being raised to minor deity status over this…

It is indeed Mr Darryl (Chen) Parker against Siam Best Enterprise (1) and Mr Bruno Pinkel (2). Pattaya court (on 13th March) has forbidden them from doing anything to the land without the court’s permission.

On a related note - action at The Koral; they’ve built a fancy wall in front of the show house. Field full of overgrown monoliths behind remain exactly the same.
