Shameless copying

Yesterday passed in the usual blizzard of domestic chores; but I did manage to squeeze in an hour or so on the keyboard in order to produce another post for my fledgling M43 Info site.

Having embarked upon the enterprise, I am rather unsure of what to do with it. With little initial thought, I imagined a site crammed with almost daily witty news and updates on the M43 world, something that would attract a wide following and earn mega-dollars from advertising links. What I have instead, so far, is a few reviews and nothing else. I really must get stuck in and try and develop something; but not today because I am busy.

Anyway, yesterday, I wrote a review of the Olympus 60mm Macro lens. I did this by re-posting photos that have already been posted here, cutting and pasting some words that have already appeared here; and writing a few lines of additional nonsense. In summary, nothing new for Pattaya Days readers, but if you really must you can find it here.

Well you could indulge yourself (and your readers) in the research of light-sensors used in cameras (and especially in the M43s) and the technique used to create something we call an photo nowadays. I did in the pas few days (thanks to Kevin) and it is an jungle out there. And an jungle with a lot of development in these days.

One very interesting piece of information would be how durable mirrorless cameras are. DigitalRev-TV tested (ruined) several DSLR cameras and they all seemed quite tough. I’m curious how rugged a GF1 or E-PL1 is. Are there already tests on this topic? I was just wondering…

Monetize this size instead. I know you think (thought) it wouldn’t get targetted adverts, but Google adsense these days will target the person if it can’t target the subject. First few months are usually terrible, the payout is tiny, and the targetting is poor, but it gets better and better. You just stick with it.

Then I’d merge the camera review site into this one. Most of this site is you photographing stuff, you could link from that to the more detailed camera reviews. After all, what sells a camera is the photos, people don’t know they need to upgrade their camera until they see their photos are naff. What draws people to the photos is some article they read.

Then I’d add a merchant account to the mix, if you can get an amazon merchant account you could create an Amazon camera store on this site. Or some other affiliate system (they pay you a % of the sale, they fulfill the order, you just send them the buyers via an affiliate link). Affiliates from my personal experience don’t work as well as adsense.
