Not to be outdone by the UK shock horror news regarding the abundance of horse meat to be found in assorted meat products; Thailand has hit back with its own little scandal.
A housewife in Buri Ram bought some sausages from a local vendor and took them home to cook for her family. They were tucking into the third sausage when they discovered bits which were undoubtedly originally kitten.
Suitably shocked at having their dinner interrupted, they made vomiting noises for a while before doing what any sensible Thai household would do; they built a little shrine and placed whatever was left of the cooked kitty upon it. Much praying ensued, and for reasons that are not made clear, the number 42 (which as we all know is the answer to life, the universe and everything) popped up as a lottery number and duly delivered a winning result.
So, although the cat may not think so, it was a lucky cat after all!
Almost as an afterthought, the press reported that “Public Health officials had begun an investigation to find out if the local sausage maker was mixing cat meat with pork, or if it was an isolated incident and the kitten fell into the sausage making machine and contaminated the food.” I’m off to check the labels on the meat at the local Tesco’s, “Pig and Persian Pie” perhaps?

I thought it was a case that the sausage just looked like a cat (like the picture of Jesus on a toast and similar stories), now it is clear. Similarity to a cat is far fetched, maybe it looks better in reality. However, the lottery number is 52, not 42.
