Getting older sucks

· 394 words · 2 minute read

Having battled my way through a particularly nasty bout of man flu a week or so ago, I felt that I was on the road to recovery apart from some lingering unpleasantness around the sinuses. But the day after my road trip with Kevin, I started to go downhill again and have spent the past three days nursing the most spectacular inflamed throat accompanied by a high fever.

Having previously stubbornly refused any medical intervention, I have finally relented and am now consuming large white pills which proclaim themselves to be antibiotics, and they do seem to be working; but getting back to full speed is not doubt going to take a few days.

The illness/recovery cycle certainly lengthens as one gets older; presumably in preparation for the inevitable event which starts with illness and never cycles to recovery. It’s a damn nuisance and I dread to think how much worse it would get should I ever allow myself to have a mid-life crisis.

Al this is a sort of an apology for not posting anything recently. Normal abnormal service will be resumed as soon as possible. In the meantime, I can’t really recommend reading a shameless re-hash of a couple of earlier posts to generate the shit lens shootout, or the cutting edge journalism that isn’t contained in a screen protector review.

I suspect you’ve probably left it too late to have a mid-life crisis, but you can live in hope.

I’ve always wondered why some people get them and others don’t. Maybe we’re just not mature enough and we’ll get it when we’re older ;-)

@Genuinej … you beat me to it .. Spike left the door wide open on that one for sure.

I also know he hates whisky but a hot toddy is the best remedy for man flu (imho) … and many men in their ´mid life crisis´ discover the Lagavullin !!

Ah Jock, the benefits of the holy toddy, almost worth ailing for! I think my mid-life crisis has been going on for years, ’tho it hasn’t extended to a large angry motorcycle yet, so it may not be the real thing… Do get well soon old chap, keep taking the pills & ointment!
