My previous tour round the Bukruk street arts festival had found me some good locations; but I knew there were many I had missed, and I knew that the majority of those were round the Siam area. So I spent an hour or so on Wednesday wandering the little alleys around Siam and found all manner of lovely stuff, much of it integrated into the pipework and other bits and pieces hanging from the side of buildings.
Fun to photograph, and special mention must be made of my Panasonic 7-14mm lens which worked in the narrowest of spaces and delivered all the shots in this post. Cracking little lens.

2013-03-22| Kevin Moore saysOnce again love the images Spike. They’ve been of great use to me as I produced your images as evidence to the wife who’s also a photographer that I really really do actually need a 7-14mm lens. She has to admit that the lens is ( in the right hands aka Spike ) capable of producing excellent images so hopefully now won’t take a great deal of pursuading. ( it will be in the kit bag by Tuesday )
On another point, it’s 22 days since I left sunny Thailand to be sat here covered in snow, winds in excess of 40mph and 2 degrees. On my last two days I spent my time just wandering the streets of Bangkok ( you may have noticed a guy carrying loads of Nikon glass sweating profusely ) taking some general street shots. Although I’ve had the pleasure of Spike’s company for a day at the Ancient City, we’ve never actually discussed any particular photo locations in Bangkok, I was really amazed today, to see some of his images as we’ve both shot identical locations none of which are in anyway well known places.
The first black and white image entitled “City Space” is the first coincidence although I shot it portrait as it sort of looked like a train going between two building to me. The second image the purple coloured phones is near the Hard Rock Cafe walking towards MBK in one of the side streets.
Was this a pure coincidence? Two great minds thinking alike? ( wife doesn’t agree there as apparently it takes two great minds not one ) or is it just two photographers both from that great place “Geordieland” ?
Keep the great images coming Spike it helps me think of warmer times.
2013-03-23| Spike saysVery strange that, at the time you are trying to convince your wife that the 7-14mm is a good buy, someone you know posts a load of pictures from that lens and extols its virtues. The suspicious might suspect collusion….
Interesting that your take on City Space was a portrait orientation shot from right down the middle, and I chose a landscape shot from the side. Annoyingly, I think yours works better.
As for location choice, it’s clearly a case of the scientifically proven Geordie Genes effect.
