Zebra overload

· 254 words · 2 minute read

On my way to a location to take some shots in support of an upcoming crucial “how does the Olympus 60mm macro compare to the Olympus 75mm for general shooting” post (you have been warned), and I pass a couple of shrines which sport an unusual zebra theme. I recall a brief post about this place a couple of years ago, but the population of African equids (yes, I looked it up) has blossomed considerably since then.

Whipped out the 75mm for a multi-zebra shot; but then wished I had something wider with me for a more general view. Then I remembered that I had the crazy little body cap lens in the front pocket of my bag so knocked off a couple of shots with that. I revise my opinion, it can be useful.

I was being followed round by a soulful child who never smiled, so it was back to the 75mm for a quick shot. The sun was slightly behind her which worked well with her hair.

I asked her “Zebras? Why?” She didn’t know.

And it’s very interesting to note that this is the far less common genus of equid which is white with black stripes in contradistinction to the far more common and easily recognisable as not a concrete casting genus which is black with white stripes…

I wonder what they would look like in monochrome?
