It's not all champagne and glamour

· 266 words · 2 minute read

Off to shoot polo this afternoon and the weather was not at all interested in being co-operative; in fact it pissed it down for more than two hours.

So instead of the thunder of hooves, the clink of champagne glasses and cries of “good chukka sir!” (nobody actually says that anyway), all we got was the clink of champagne glasses and some rather fine sandwiches. Oh, and a hot dog.

The normally suave and dashing Argentinian gauchos were looking a little soggy as they were sent out to retrieve equipment…

….while the rest of tried to stay dry and empty as many bottles of the bubbly stuff as possible.

The local wildlife looked equally damp, and were falsely optimistic that someone had rush delivered a new pond for them to play in.

Hopefully there will be no sign of the new pond next time I visit.

Just what I was thinking, Champagne and polo without the polo. It’s a win-win situation!
