If you have a digital camera, you will need to look at your photos on a computer. You might want to organise them, make them look better, build a slideshow, build a web page, design a book, perhaps even print them. You can do all of that with Adobe Lightroom 4.
Forget about the bloat that is Photoshop, or any of the other junk that purports to offer a comprehensive, easy to use solution; Lightroom is by far the best tool on the market.
From this, you may guess that I am a huge fan of Lightroom. I used the software that formed the basis for Lightroom (Rawshooter) some six years ago and thus qualified for a free copy of Lightroom 1. Result. Then came Lightroom 2 and 3 and my attempts to obtain a legal copy were thwarted thanks to Adobe’s lack of international focus. So I have been using pirated serial numbers for a few years, and I don’t feel very comfortable with that; given how great the software is and how much I use it.
Today, Adobe released Lightroom 4 and I was straight onto their site to purchase for a very reasonable $149. But, just like last time, I couldn’t because I didn’t live in the USA. But, unlike last time, Adobe have seen the light and there is now an Adobe South East Asia store where I could purchase the software for 5,000 baht. No idea why it should be more expensive here than America; but it is still a massive bargain for something I could not live without.
Get it here (if you live in South East Asia).

5000Bt? US$149 ? Think yourself lucky you do not have to buy from Adobe’s Australia store…..$219 (=approx US$230, 7000Bt). When comparing the prices between Adobe’s Australia,US and SEA stores I notice that you actually get a discount price of 3556Bt at the moment ? It’s the same with all their products, the basic CS5 is over AU$1000……I’ve never worked out why it should be any more expensive to down load the same file from Australia compared to the US. I just wish I could find a Pantip plaza version that actually works…….
2012-03-08| Spanky saysI am just waiting for my friends at The Pirate Bay to upload a decent version. For that amount of money that’s a few used cheap lenses.
2012-03-08| Spacefruit saysAs an avid supporter of Pantip trial versions of software, films etc, i do also support Spike’s attitude that if something is good, and used a lot I should buy it. So I have. Thats my good deed for the year done.
2012-03-08| Spike saysFeels good doesn’t it? I had to compensate by downloading a bunch of movies via torrents.
2012-03-08| Spike saysNo, no, no. This is not the way young Spanky. Lightroom is not copy protected in the same way as Photoshop; no need for a pirated version.
- Go to Adobe and download the 30 day free trial (which is all you would get from the Pirate Bay anyway).
- Search in the usual places for a serial number. Enter serial number.
- You now have a valid version and you can happily download and install updates when they become available. Having said all that, you won’t get much in the way of lenses for 5k baht…
2012-03-08| Spike saysI agree, absolutely no logic; perhaps just envy because Oz is a so much better place to live in than America?
2012-03-08| Spanky saysNo, no, no. This is the way old Spike. They haven’t gotten around to cracking the key yet least not when I looked. They also tend to release scripts to block the phone home feature to Adobe via your hosts file. Photoshop is completely available via download. Just need to know what to look for in the torrent.
For the record 5000 baht would be a lot of lenses. I just scored a macro zoom for 153 baht! I have found a secret source of lenses for sale that make even the cheapest Ebay lens seem expensive.
2012-03-08| Spanky saysI’m nearing the 40000 song mark in music downloads. I shudder to think what I would have paid for it.
2012-03-08| Spanky saysAs I was typing that I won another auction from my secret source. A standard zoom for 306 baht! Not getting much for 5K. HA!
2012-03-09| Spike saysLightroom does not send any scripts; it just needs a valid serial number. Once you have that, you can download future updates from Adobe as if you had a legal copy. If you use a cracked version then you will be stuck looking for a cracked version of every single update. Just trying to help.
