Spike, that was seriously funny and deserves a comment … perhaps your mainly non-european readership has no feckin´clue as to what is happenning in europe … it´s all going to pot … not the smoking kind as that could be forgiven … the only bright light is that Scotland might finally gain independance from Westminster and we will all become as rich as the Arabs or the Norwegians overnight on the back of all that oil wealth …. sadly it´s about 30 years too late … Sheikh Jock

Jock, I think my readership is well informed as to the happenings in Europe; but if you think that independence for Scotland is somehow going to spare the country from falling into the same black hole of debt and woe as everyone else; then you are sadly misguided.

Spike, I think Jock was essaying a little irony here, rather than misguidedness. How can you not love a people to whom the Irish gave the bagpipes as a joke, and the Scots haven’t seen it yet?…
