Drive down a small soi off Theppraya Road and you will come across this:

Is it a restaurant? A discrete brothel? Someone who wants a change from the usual statues? From the soi, it is hard to work out just how big this place is, other than it is substantial:

It’s only from further away that you can appreciate just how big it is:

All very mysterious, and the mystery deepens when you find this place is next door, with only a small grill for entry.

The locals advise that the complex is owned by a middle-eastern gentleman who visits occasionally. I am sure that there is an interesting story behind this; if I can’t find out what it is then I will just have to make something up.

My extensive research (looking the place up on Google) suggests that it is the local office AsiaRooms.com. The address is given as Saraan House, 49/13-15 Moo 13, Sukhamvit Road, Banglamung, Nongprue, Chonburi, 20260.

Dunno. Hard to believe.

Obvious ennit ! Just look at the logo between the two palm trees (1st photo). It’s the new HQ for the Paris - Dhakar Rally.

What did that wall have on it before “Cyber Research Center”? I can make out the word ‘Pacific’ in the top left, with maybe ‘World’ after it.

oh and on the topic of that area, i assume you’ve had food at that restaurant on the next soi? towards the bottom… Rin Kitchen? if not, go there. really good thai food.

I will have to go back and check out the names on the wall in more detail; plus eat at Rin Kitchen. Pretty sure Asia Rooms are not involved though.

That place has been there for donkey’s - and it’s seven years since I was in Pattaya. (sign me, ‘smug bangkokian swine’), however, me was told by the fine Naval Officers that we did business with and indeed a fine Pattya born and bred worthy involved, that it was owned by a Thai family of Muslim extraction as an educational centre. It appeared that they are worth so much money that they come into the category of names that must not be mentioned. (Nothing to do with Thai names that must not be mentioned if you follow me). A G5 popping into U-Tapao from time to time outbound for India might be of help for the speccy gits who like to track down flight plans.

And Asia Rooms are owned by whom?

i used to live around the corner from that place and often wondered as well… would be nice to see what’s inside. definitely owned by people with power, i’m sure not even the BiB will touch that

Its a private house. Owned by the chap who owned/set up Asia Rooms. Think he is French…

Mystery solved; thanks. Next, a photo of a shed.

Yes it is the home of French owner who created and sold AsiaRooms to TLC, but I wonder why he built a 100 million Thb building without sea view ?

Because he also didn’t want to be seen ?

I saw this building when trying to find a condo to buy, but I think this place is too expensive for me :-)

Just wondering !
