Stainless steel temple

· 308 words · 2 minute read

You don’t have to go far in Thailand to find a temple. Most are attractive buildings. worthy of poking a camera towards; but once you have done a couple, they all start to look the same.

There are exceptions, most notable of which is the astonishing white temple near Chang Rai. And yesterday, not far from the pink Ganesh, we found a stainless steel temple under construction.

As the temple is still under construction, you can see the eight luk nimit outside the temple; sacred stone balls which are covered in gold leaf and will eventually be buried to mark the boundaries of the temple. Inside the temple, in a deep pit, is the ninth luk nimit which will be treated with much ceremony before finally being buried.

An impressively shiny place, which made it rather hard to photograph; but we will return once everything is complete.

Very impressive indeed. Showed my own swmbo the pictures and her reply was along the lines of สวยจัง อยากไป. Any chance of a location more detailed than just ’not far from the pink Ganesh’ which is apparently ’near’ Chachoengsao? Please. Pretty please.

I would like to know more details (name, location) too …i’m always looking for new and different styles of wat to photograph. Have you ever been to the Million Bottle Temple, or Wat Lan Khuad at Khun Han, Si Saket province ? That’s a strange place ! http://www.pbase.com/mike_n/image/127239830

Drove past the bottle temple but did not stop because we were on the way to see some crap rocks in the middle of a river. Have to go back.
