Shat out of a cat

The latest attempt by Royal Garden Plaza to drag unwilling potential customers through the doors is a coffee festival.

As usual, the reality was less than the hype, with a few stands selling expensive machines….

…and several stands selling sweet syrup with which to ruin your coffee:

Also included, although not strictly complying with the theme, was a gentleman being attacked by a large turd selling Turkish ice cream:

The highlight of the show was the chance to sample one of the ten most expensive coffees in the world. Straight in at number one is Kopi Luwak, which is coffee made from beans that have been ingested by a civet cat and then excreted. After removing the surrounding poo, the beans are dried, roasted and sold for 15,000 baht a kilo. I did try ramming coffee beans down the throats of our cats in an attempt to simulate the process; but they just vomited them back up. After cleaning and drying, I really couldn’t tell the difference. They need to be soaked in poo rather than vomit to really justify the price.

Sadly, you can’t choose which coffee to taste. We were given St. Helena coffee which was very tasty; but didn’t really satisfy my lust to try Kopi Luwak. So instead of the free taster, I handed over my credit card for Luwak Cappuccino Enormo:

Should be able to pay off the bill by Christmas.
