It was last August that I decided to load some photos to a stock library. As I mentioned at the time, it was Ray who persuaded me to do this, and he has continued to piss me off impress me with stories of his massive monthly earnings.
Loading to stock libraries is a little like doing the lottery. You start with boundless enthusiasm, convinced that a large payday is just around a corner. After a month or so you realise your chances of winning (or selling) are remote and you lose interest.
And so it has been a couple of months or more since I bothered uploading anything, and my total stock of crappy photos that nobody wants to buy, stands at 239. Based on the urban myth that you should expect one sale a month for every thousand photos, I should be due a sale round about now.
I make an occasional check, expecting nothing, and so was amazed to discover that a book publisher in Russia had purchased a photo for inclusion in a book; for the princely sum of $38. The feeling of euphoria far outweighed the income, partly because I have been vying with Nik for “I made a sale first” status, and partly because I had vowed to divorce she who must be obeyed if she sold anything first; and I don’t really want to divorce her.
I announced the no need to divorce news to she who must be obeyed. She want to know how much I had made.
About enough to buy a Hamburger.
An Amburger. Do you really need another lens?
Pardon?
An Amburger, I assume it is another type of lens, like a Voigtlander.
Is it that obvious that I come from Newcastle?
