And why would the Thai Airport authority issue such a statement yesterday?
- Floor re-surfacing operations in progress?
- Exit barrier is not functioning correctly?
- Car park is full?
- More than one hundred armed men, wearing black, have seized control of the area?
Well, of course it was number 4.
And what is the response when an area of an international airport is occupied such a manner?
- Send in specially trained troops to disarm and arrest the men?
- Dislodge them with tear gas, water cannon and rubber bullets?
- Send some police round for a nice chat?
You know the answer.
Some sort of business dispute apparently, so convoluted that I gave up trying to understand it. But sending in a private army owned by one of the fat cats involved was the obvious solution.
Incidents like this no longer surprise me; one of the benefits of having lived here for more than ten years.
