Not for the squeamish

A good wind and a fine afternoon at the beach; but oh so hot. As I supped my drink in the cooling breeze next to the sea, I checked the temperature; 35 degrees. My thoughts turned to the red shirts in Bangkok where the temperature must be way hotter and the air more humid and polluted. After a night in the open, a day of tramping around and shouting, minimal toilets and a lack of washing facilities; things must be getting a little fetid.

So they must be very happy at the latest plan announced by their leaders, they intend taking blood from each protester tonight and throwing the resulting 1,000 litres onto the Democrat’s HQ quarters in a symbolic gesture. And the symbolism is? Other than stupidity it is hard to fathom; especially when the presence of water cannon at the protest site will make quick work of whatever is chucked.

Must be a bit of a shock to the protesters too. Other having to do a bit of walking about and yeling, they have had quite a nice free trip to the big city. And now someone wants to stick a needle in their arm. From my experience, Thais are slightly more squeamish than the rest of the world at the prospect of having blood extracted. Unlikely there will be enough trained nurses to do the job, so the procedure is going to hurt. And where the hell are they going to get (and safely dispose of) 100,000 fresh needles? Or is the plan that everyone shares with Khun Somchai the long distance lorry driver who doesn’t like using condoms and has been looking a little gaunt recently…?

It’s a plan, but not a very good one.

That has to be the dumbest plan I’ve ever heard.

£10 they bail as soon as the full enormity of their stupidity dawns.
