Knees down

Yes, it was bikes at Bira again today after an absence of few months. One or two people actually seemed mildly pleased to see me again, which was nice. And I enjoyed the snapping, although it took me while to get into the swing of panning long lenses again.

The mark of progress for a racing bike rider is to get the knee down on the track, preferably in a corner; achieving on a straight probably indicates you are in the middle of a substantial accident.I have never ridden a racing bike, but the very idea of putting my knee anywhere near some asphalt at speed holds little appeal.

The more tentative riders make a general motion trackwards:

Whereas the more confident just flow through the corners, dragging their knees as they go:

And then there are the professionals who are not content with just sticking their knee on the ground, has to be a substantial part of the leg:

All the riders have something in common, they are a little crazy.

Previous posts of this nature are usually met with cries of “never mind the bikes, show us the tits”. To hopefully stem this ribald tide of perversion, may I point you in the direction of the Highside Tours Photo Page, wherein you will find bike babes and, more importantly, even more photos of bikes should you so desire, which is unlikely.
