Property updates

January is as good a time as any to have a look at progress, or otherwise, of some of the property projects in the area.

The Tropical Dream Previously discussed here and here. I seem to get frequent hits regarding this project, probably because the developer’s website has disappeared.

The good news is that it is now being constructed:

Note how investor’s money is being saved by dispensing with non-essentials such as safety boots or helmets. Doesn’t look like the promised six star construction at the moment, but just wait till they are finished. I am still concerned about the promised sea view however, given the large patch of bare ground in front of the building which is just waiting for a tower block, and then this is in the way.

Still, I am sure the view will be epic.

Marraka Residence A year since we last looked at this one, so you would expect the lucky investors to be happily moved in and living luxury lives. Well, not quite; but it does have an amazing roof which looks guaranteed to do something interesting when the storms come along in June.

Doesn’t look much like the drawing in the sales literature:

View Talay Residence 5 Last time we looked, six months ago, completion had slipped from February 2009 to the end of 2009. Did they make it? Of course not.

A few units have windows installed, but I would bet that it will still not be completed at the end of 2010.

Ocean 1 Hahahahaha. However, I have it on good authority that there will some “interesting news” next month. Interesting in this context does not mean good.

The Lofts Progress since last March? I think “fuck all” would be a reasonable summary.

Perhaps they should change the slogan to “a dream beyond your reach”. Tropicana Resort A year ago it looked like this. And now:

Someone has actually (almost) built something; perhaps we should erect a statue in their honour.

Finally, The Ocean Pearl A year ago, it was just a drawing:

And now, it is a reality. Maybe not looking quite as smart as the graphic is the sales pitch; and there is a slight discrepancy from the plan; instead of two blocks there is only one, but with the added bonus of an huge hole which will make for a great, if muddy, swimming pool once the rains come. Get your wallet out now, there is a chance there might still be some units for sale.

Its sad to see that even after decades of failures and curruption in the property market it is still an area where Governments the world over fear to tread, for whatever reason.

Of course with such a disconcerting post you should following it up with something enlightening, alone the lines of “Windows 7 best selling OS of all time”… ;-)

Good idea. I could use the heading “Just because it is popular, does not mean it is good”

and then provide examples: Susan Boyle Christianity Vista sp 3 (aka Win 7)

Actually I have heard Win 7 is OK, in time I will replace my XP gaming installation on my Mac.
