The Royal Garden Plaza is not doing too well. The opening of the new Central Mall, the global credit crunchie, piggie flu etc. etc. have combined to make the place somewhat devoid of customers; the only rush being when it rains and all the Beach Road prostitutes come inside to shelter and perchance snare a browsing shopper.

The management has had a bit of a think and come up with a winning idea to lure people back; a screaming competition. Between now and the 1st August, you can queue up to shout at a microphone in the faint hope of beating the world record, which if Mr. Google serves me well, is 128 decibels. This is equivalent to the noise she who must be obeyed makes when talking to her mother on the phone, so it is quite loud.

For those not interested in screaming, it means that their shopping experience (or in my case, my cappuccino experience at the Coffee Club), will be punctuated every few minutes by a yelling idiot;which is just the sort of thing that will make consumers head somewhere else.

Personally, I think they should have had a crack at the “most people belly dancing simultaneously” record of 535; but what do I know about marketing?

Someone got paid to think that up? Management at Central festival should send a steady stream of screamers over to participate. I’m sure the 128 decibel level has been bettered at some Thai venues when ping pong balls are produced, although in a group effort.

Better if The Tourist Authority of Thailand was to invite visitors to Pattaya to celebrate a “National Get Your End Away Week - A Promotion Festival”

I thought you celebrated this every week?
