Living in a cardboard box

· 533 words · 3 minute read

The computer set-up is finally taking shape, and I am pleased with the overall layout. The desktop is clear of any clutter. Just the computer, monitor, speakers, mouse, router and… a cardboard box.

Admittedly the latter was not in the plan. It’s an old box that one of the cats liked to sleep in so she could be close to us in case we did anything she could interfere with while at the computers. With the new design of desk, I threw the box away. The cat fought back by lying across the ventilation holes in the router until it got really hot and smoke started to rise (not sure if it was smoking fur or smoking electronics). So I had to retrieve the box from the rubbish and put it back on the desk. An uneasy peace has been restored.

I will be interested to see how long the order and tidiness last.

SWMBO has already established a junk pile on her side of the desk. There is no hope.

Looking back on a picture from “coming back to life” it seems there is more than enough room for a small cardboard box on the floor behind either of the sets of drawers. The same picture, however, doesn’t seem to have enough desk room for a SWMBO-side.

The cat can’t keep an eye on things from the floor; it demands a ringside seat.

There are two seating areas at the desk. The one on the right is slightly larger to accommodate my second monitor which I haven’t quite purchased. The one on the left is more than adequate for SWMBO and her already accumulating pile of junk which, like the cat, has no place on a computer table. But what can you do against cats and wives…?

Cat likes plastic bags and lives in a cardboard box ergo cat is Italian?

The photos remind me of one my earlier Ebay disasters.

I assumed French. Although the fact that it is a Korat cat breed would indicate otherwise.

You bought a smoking router from eBay? Or a cat? or a box? Or a smoking router and a cat in a box? Or maybe a Samsung monitor. I agree, it is total shit and I need to change it for something better.

You are lucky you are in Thailand …. routers are now banned from smoking indoors in the UK, if they are stupid enough to wish to smoke then they now have to do it outdoors in a duly approved area .. this is something we call freedom

Cats are manipulative bastards. I know, I am a slave to two of them.
