Colour management

She who must be obeyed comes home last night with a chart which is duly stuck up on the board in the kitchen.

Colours

In case you are not fluent in the Thai script, I can tell you that the columns down the left represent the days of the week, the left hand colour column is a good colour to wear on that day, the right hand column is a no-go colour for that day, and the other two columns are… I don’t know.

I start my usual pointless questioning about which particular scientific study has confirmed the luckiness of these colours or otherwise on particular days; and then give up. It’s a no more silly belief than believing in a god, and billions seem to lean on that particular crutch. Unlike religion, it’s a harmless belief, and she who must be obeyed looks pretty cute whatever colour she wears; so why should I care about the basis on which she chooses her colours in the morning. As long as she doesn’t make me wear pink.

Do you have to wear thinner clothes on Tuesdays and Thursdays?

Bloody hell Pete, pretty impressive knowledge of Thai … or were you guessing? I should tell yiou that the Thai week traditionally starts on a Thurday afternoon …

The Thai weekend certainly starts on a Thursday afternoon.

And finishes the following Thursday lunchtime as far as I can see … “pissed off of The Hague”

Perhaps you should add Thailand to your list of potential retirement homes.

Good to see that they’ve added the name of the colours for those superstitious yet unlucky Thais who happen to be colour blind. Let’s hope that Thai garment manufacturers show the same empathy.

It’s probably been made by colour blind Thais anyway. Thursday’s column 3 and Saturday’s column 4 both say ‘green’ on a blue backgound, and the far right one in Friday’s column 4 says ‘grey’. Go figure!! (PS - the top row IS Monday, irrespective of what lunchtime the Thai weekend starts on …))

Pete - you’re right but I suspect the blue blackground to actually be greenish blue. Obviously the printer which was used is not up to the difficult task of rendering colours accurately, there are at least three different “reds” on the chart, none of which corresponds to my understanding of the colour red… A pretty subversive chart by the way: isn’t yellow supposed to be worn on mondays?

Yes - the standard list of colours to be worn on a particular day does have Monday as yellow. It also has Tuesday as pink, and not purple. Wonder which one Spike will go with ….?

(Definitely more blue than greenish blue on my monitor, anyway)
