Phuket has a rather nice marina, in fact it has more than one rather nice marina. Pattaya has an adequate marina down the road from Jomtien, but that really isn’t good enough; we NEED a new marina in Pattaya to attract all the high rolling millionaires who just happen to be sailing by and fancy a night on the town with their genitals.
The sales pitch for the rather wonderful but not quite constructed Waterfront condo complex assures us that there will a marina close by, so it must be true; and indeed Pattaya City Hall announced last year that they were studying a proposal.
The marina will be called the Joyful Sports Harbour which is an ace name, entirely in keeping with the spirit of Pattaya. Puts “The Yacht Haven” in Phuket in its place. It will hold up to 200 hundred boats and it will cost “in excess of 684.2 million baht”. Not clear what “in excess” means in respect of such a precise number. 684.23 million baht? 876.1 million baht?
Anyway, it’s a wonderful idea and I don’t think we should quibbling about the costs when we could be sipping champagne of the poop deck of “The Rampant Harlot” and watching the drunken jetski drivers crashing into each other. Cheers!
