Capturing the 'mallet in the face' moment

· 229 words · 2 minute read

If you are to capture special moments in action photography, you obviously have to be in the right place at the right time, and the finger has to depress the shutter when the special moment is happening, and you need a bit of luck.

And I had some luck to capture a moment at polo today when a rather unorthodox manoeuvre was used to distract a player; sticking him in the nose with a mallet. Click on the photo to see the larger version and you can see his nose bending!

No. Had a bit of a bloody face afterwards.

Your photo’s are really great Spike.

That mullet manoeouvre - was it legal? Ot did the chukka boss miss it?

Thanks. It’s a great sport to shoot, if a little challenging.

I think the mullet manoeuvre was considered unintentional. These Argentinian lads tend to get very physical and blood is regularly spilled, see next post for an example.

I looked at the next batch - great stuff with polo ponies apparently flying in mid air.

I’m sure you get a few bob for some of these …

… they’d look great framed behind the bar …
