In praise of the Caterham S500

· 220 words · 2 minute read

In a recent post I made reference to my first car, a Lotus 7. This started me off on an orgy of nostalgia and I plundered YouTube for wild and wonderful Lotus 7 videos.

And then the Top Gear programme had a feature on the latest evolution of the 7, the Caterham S500. Close to the fastest car they had ever had round their test track, it was dismissed as being just too extreme; but then they changed their minds in this week’s episode and named the Caterham S500 as the car of the year. And quite right too. Check out this extract from Top Gear, this is how a car should be driven, although maybe not down Sukhumvit Road in Pattaya:

I didn’t see that episode and likely never will as the Beeb have had it removed from YouTub :-(

Todd, I agree; except when you drive through some cow shit, then you wish that the front wings had a little more coverage.
