Driving over the summit of the Cameron Highlands and we reach an area which is dedicated to strawberries. We are invited to indulge in a little self plucking which sounds more perverse than it actually is.

There are also opportunities to buy strawberry-themed key rings, inflatable strawberries and all manner of strawberry related rubbish. The strawberry ice cream is good though.
Off the mountain and down into Ipoh where there are caves in limestone cliffs which have been designated as good spots to stick a temple.

Back to the outskirts of KL where we stay in the One World Hotel which is awash with gadgets. Keyboard equipped TV allows you to send message to other rooms and I amuse myself for a while sending messages to my son in the next room before becoming more inventive and sending messages to randomly selected room numbers. “Do you know there is a camera in the ceiling?.” “They are watching, you are in danger, do not leave your room.” “For a good time, call room 1376.” etc.
The One World Hotel also has the advantage of being right next to a 600 outlet mega-mall. She who must be obeyed would have been in heaven. As it was the end of fasting month and a public holiday, the place was heaving; but we happily queued for some coronary inducing chocolate drinks and one of the best Japanese meals I have ever had. Retire to bed replete, having first taken the obligatory view from hotel window shot.

The next morning we were on the road again (pausing briefly for yet another excellent roti chanai themed breakfast), heading for Malacca. If we had known what was waiting for us at the end of the journey, we would never have left.
