The kart track near to Bali Hai pier announced a three hour kart race; something worth photographing I thought. The poster had a starting time of 2 o’clock. Had taken some test shots previously, so was looking forward to a three hour mammoth afternoon photo session.
Then I read the poster again, and the 2 o’clock was actually 2000 hours, this was a night race. Photographing in the dark is not so fun, but I turned up anyway and took a few shots during qualifying.
Hard to get focus, noisy shots at ISO 3200; couldn’t be more difficult shooting conditions. Unless it started raining. It started raining. Plus thunder and lightning and soon the whole track was awash. An hour later and it was still raining, but they went ahead anyway. Everyone got very wet, apart from me. I used the reasonable excuse that I had to keep my camera dry, and shot from cover as best I could.
