Gone fishing

To read the international news, you would think that Thailand is descending into chaos. Blood on the streets, state of emergency in Bangkok, opposing gangs of paid idiots facing each other across barricades etc. etc.

But life goes on uninterrupted down here. Out and about today and I discover these two guys, one with a fetching purple helmet to keep out the sun, fishing quietly in the countryside:

Whatever transpires in Bangkok has never, and will never, impact their lives. Hope it never impacts mine either.

i think there needs to be more chaos in bkk, it’s not effecting the market enough yet - the bhat isn’t really falling much, i’d like it to jump off a cliff so my AUD is worth more…

I am hoping the same for sterling. Sadly the protestations of doom and gloom regarding the UK economy are having more impact than the protests in Bangkok and my pound will buy fewer baht than it would a week ago.

I am sure that both of your ambitions for the Baht are driven solely by your wish to be able thereby to donate even more funds to the poor. Like the recession struck bar owners, and those cultural dancers one reads about; doubtless the ones so lonely that they are forced to dance with Poles I was reading only the other day ..

I think “more” funds is being a little optimistic.

Anyway, I am struggling on half a pension with a declining exchange rate, and a handbag addict to support. I am poor, you should be donating to me.
