Farewell then Rik Wright, gone to the great gig in the sky.
Several lifetimes ago, when music came on vinyl and listening quality was of importance, I embarked upon my first purchase of what was known as a hi-fi system. Deck, amplifier, speakers and miles of complicated cable. I attended a hi-fi show where all the dealers were showing off the latest gear; and without exception they were all using the same album to promote their sound; Dark Side of the Moon. It was, and remains, a classic; still sounding good even when reduced to MP3 and pushed out of an iPod.
Through a complicated relationship involving Bugatti restorers and school friends, my son acquired an autographed copy of Pulse, upon which Nick Mason personally wished me well, which was very sweet of him given we had never met.
