A small step for Pattaya Days

· 351 words · 2 minute read

Well, in spite of a no-show from the TT&T engineer, I have had access to the wide wide world of web for most of the day. Speeds have been reduced from their usual whizzo pace, to more of a watching paint dry crawl; but at least I have had access.

Spent the day trying out ways to make images appear on this site in a more elegant manner. I have tried a number of galleries and associated WordPress plug-ins, all of which looked as if they would do the job, none of which actually worked. Many, many hours of trial and failure helped me learn more about myself. And what I learned was, I am techno-stupid. I have also learned that updating to the latest version of WordPress is not necessarily a good idea, many of the plug-in features are not working with it yet.

Finally, I found something which helps a little. A plug-in which loads images as thumbnails, either singly or as a gallery, and then allows the viewer to select a larger size image. Rather cool. To test it out I set up a gallery of shots taken from my balcony and imported them. Try it out and let me know if it works. If it doesn’t, just keep it to yourself, I have had enough pain for today.

The thumbnails work well I think and were what I used to have on Fontpage before I “advanced” to Wordpress. Thank you for all you efforts on finding the best plug-in; saved me all those hours of fun you had.

PS no more views from your balcony please. They are shit and make me deeply unhappy. Or perhaps envious.

It’s a tree viewed through rain spattered glass using a Lensbaby lens. Some call it artistic; most call it obscure crap. I call it “Alfred.”
