So goes the slogan for the latest Raimon land venture, The Lofts Southshore. Sounds good doesn’t it, although it would be more accurately titled, The Lofts, Muddy Field Next To A Busy Road, Nowhere Near The Shore.

After a rather pleasant lunch and pint or so of Kilkenny at Shenanigans last Sunday, we decided to pop into their sales office which is conveniently located right next to the bar. There was a pretty model of the two towers, and a mock-up unit complete with mock-up view over the bay. It’s a view you will only get from one side of a tower, with half of the views available being of the adjacent tower, although that fact is is not highlighted in the sample view photos they give you, which are presumably taken from a helicopter because there is no structure yet. The development is quite a distance from the sea and one wonders what else will be built to interrupt those that do have views, other than The Waterfront which is under construction and no doubt selling well to those that like looking at parked boats. [imgset:72157607357594869,thumbnail,true]

Anyway, the prices for the Southshore development are not cheap, with a 200 square metre unit, for example, costing 15.8 million baht. But they are selling, nearly half gone already, which given the pricing and the location is surprising (to me). Perhaps the payment terms are a hint. You pay 30% over 3 years and the remaining 70% on completion, I expect a lot of purchasers are hoping to sell at a profit before the condo is complete. Not a risk I would be prepared to take in these troubled times; even if I did have 15.8 million baht, which I don’t. And if I did, I wouldn’t want to live in a muddy field next to a busy road, nowhere near the shore.
