iPhone sold out in your country? Come to Pattaya

Passing through the Tuk Com centre last week and the guys in the shop that sells iPhones were looking glum. They had sold out of the old model, and had no idea when the new model would be arriving. Given that it was not going to be available officially in other parts of the world until last Friday, it could be months before supplies leak into Thailand.

Past the shop this morning, a mere three days after the new iPhone has sold out in many countries, and smiles were evident, as was a large sign saying “new model iPhone.” Coming in 3-4 days they said. God knows where they get them from, but there is no limit to Asian ingenuity when there is money to be made.

No doubt the price will be much higher than in the real world, but no doubt they will be snapped up. Personally I am just hoping someone will crack the 2.0 firmware for my current iPhone so I can get my hands on some of latest applications, including the Wordpress application that will allow me to update my blog from the phone (information courtesy of Billy, all rights reserved).
