There are those that mock the apparent lack of intellectual capability in the new Thai government. No doubt they will be silenced by the latest, brilliant idea by the Minister of the Interior to reduce fuel costs. He has suggested that district chiefs in the provinces should travel by horseback. It’s one of those smack your head, why didn’t I think of that, moments; pure genius.
As with any revolutionary idea, there were the short-sighted few who were quick to dismiss it. The governor from Khon Kaen said “I cannot ride a horse myself, and they are not that easy to obtain.” Next he wil be complaining about the cost of stabling, food and veterinary services; and how to dispose of all the inevitable horse poo. Mere details of course and I am sure we will be seeing the Minister for the Interior scrapping his Mercedes and galloping around Bangkok on a horse called Complete Idiot sometime soon.
