Change of wind

· 214 words · 2 minute read

After a couple of weeks of no wind, we woke this morning to a howling gale and big waves on the sea. Down to the windsurfing club where I proceeded to totally knacker myself in less than an hour in a session which those who know the surfing slang would describe as gnarly. High winds and big seas resulted in one big wipe-out which is now celebrated by a melon-sized lump on my thigh. After the session I sat on the beach with a pounding heart, laboured breath and aching limbs; all the signs of a good time.

I then relaxed and pointed my camera at those still on the water.

That would be enough to pronounce the day a success, but at around 1500 the cast and crew of a major Bollywood movie descended on the beach for a shoot. But that’s another story.

It’s just hanging around on the end of some lines, waiting for the inevitable moment that you will be flung into a tree and permanently disfigured.
